UK households looking for a simpler way to cut the cost of their essential household services can now join the waitlist for Alfred, ahead of its launch later this year.

The waitlist opens as households face renewed financial pressure, with energy bills alone, forecast to rise by 4%*** from October, taking them to their highest level in three years.

Alfred is a new ‘Costco-style’ membership service bringing energy, mobile, broadband and insurance together under one roof. For £195 a year, members get access to wholesale rates across all these essential household services, negotiated by Alfred, and managed through one provider and one app.

Alfred estimates that higher-spending households could save up to £1,000 a year with the largest households saving more than £2,000, compared with standard or out-of-contract pricing from major providers. With one membership, one app and one provider, consumers can ditch the annual cycle of switching, haggling and hunting for a better deal.

“Households are fed up with the annual merry go round of researching and switching for a better deal. We’re building a completely different way to manage the essential household services — one membership, one provider and wholesale pricing, without the endless switching, haggling and hassle.

“Energy, mobile, broadband and insurance shouldn’t feel like four separate jobs to manage. They should just work. Alfred is here to put someone in your corner, give you access to better pricing and take the admin off your hands. We’re looking forward to welcoming the Founding Members joining our waitlist ahead of launch.”

Alfred recently raised £5 million in its first funding round, backed by Liberty Global, Amazon's first investor Nick Hanauer and golfer Justin Rose. The funding is supporting the company's launch and ambition to build a new kind of household services provider.

Alfred makes its money from the membership rather than adding margins to services. The more services a household brings together, the greater the savings potential.

Alfred is an Ofgem-regulated energy retailer, licensed MVNO and broadband provider, and FCA-authorised insurance broker.

The waitlist is now open, with consumers able to sign up to become Founding Members ahead of launch. Consumers can also use the savings calculator at alfred.co.uk to estimate how much their household could save with Alfred, based on the services they use. Alfred provides a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee that refunds the membership, and helps people leave if they are unhappy for any reason.

Notes

*Illustrative estimate of up to approximately £1,000 a year, for a UK household taking all four Alfred services. Modelled on a dual-fuel high-usage household as defined by Ofgem (3,800 kWh electricity and 14,000 kWh gas a year), two mobile plans, a 1Gb full-fibre broadband connection, and two cars on comprehensive insurance with breakdown cover. Savings are calculated against the average of the five largest providers in each market on their standard, default or out-of-contract published rates, not best-available deals: standard variable energy tariffs under the Ofgem price cap in force at the date below; 30-day rolling unlimited mobile plans; a 1Gb full-fibre broadband package on out of contract pricing. Insurance is individually risk-rated, so policy savings will vary and are not included. This is not a typical household - most households use less, take fewer services, or are on fixed or best-available deals, and will save less, and some may save nothing. All services are in development ahead of launch and actual savings cannot be guaranteed. Prices correct as of July 2026. Savings exclude membership fee of £195 a year.
